He wants to lose the weight; however, the only time he does exercise @ home is when we tell him. The only free (or affordable) fitness/exercise programs are doing the week & he always has a lot of homework. There aren’t any close to us on Saturdays.

Buy this book!!!
The Great Physician’s RX for Health and Wellness, by Jordan Rubin. Read the book and then do as it says. And try my personal solution , in the summer go out and sweat, drink lots of water. This book is important to a fit and healthy life. Under, over and perfect weight sized people should have it.
Also, is there any way you could fork out the money and buy a Bo Flex? If so, I recommend that also for fitness strength. Have fun and be happy.
i think weight watchers is the best solution!

Well Mrs.Dee, Who buys the food he eats?? Who makes sure he gets outside to run or take a walk, ride a bike?? He’s 13, don’t make excuses for him, help him!!!!!!!
ummm. well if you live a few miles from his school make him walk home, if the weather is okay. watch what he eats. if he is on any meds, that might also make him gain weight.
there s no point in making someone join a weight losing program .. motivate him at home – and the outdoors are free n fr all to use ……
ever thought of ur pet using the treadmill ? sounds ridiculous rite ?
so why stay indoors
we re human after all !
Reduce his intake of unhealthy foods and encourage exercise by rewarding him with access to some of the things he enjoys if he does the exercise, and denying hin if he doesn’t. Buy him a bike, exercise with him to make it a shared social activity, send him swimming with friends.
There’s no point in having a well-educated son with up-to-date homework if he’s turning into a porker with a reduced life-expectancy as a result.
Keep junk food out of the house and go for a walk as a family around the block in the evenings. Just walking is great excerise, and is free and avalible at any time.
Don’t be a complacent parent. You need to instill motivation and reinforce the habits of hard work in your child. People are just too lazy nowadays. People resort to excuses for their laziness. I often hear overweight say that their metabolism is too slow. Yes, there is maybe like 5% of the populaton that can eat bad food all day and never gain a pound, but the other 95% of us have to work at it.
All things that yield good results in life are from hard work. To be in shape is not easy, it takes hard work. To get good grades in school is not easy, it takes hard work. To get a good job is not easy, it takes hard work. To be a good parent is not easy, it takes hard work. The complacency of today’s generation makes me sick. People expect things just to be given to them because they watch the celebrities on television getting everything handed to them, but they fail to realize that less than 1% of the world’s population get things handed to them, everyone else has to work for it.
If losing weight was easy than everyone would be skinny. If being rich was easy than everyone would be rich. If being smart was easy than everyone would be smart.
Take walks or go to the playground. Do it as a family, so he doesn’t feel bad. It made me feel like eating more when my dad told me what not to eat and when to exercise when I was an overweight kid. Keep only vegetables and fruits in the house, no junk food. Have the whole family eating well, this will be a good way to support him.
Avoid junk foods at all costs, as they contribute to obesity and leads to health problems at an early stage of life itself. Its not possible to cut his junk food supply in full, but by stages, you can achieve this.
Walking is the best exercise for cutting your body fats. If you son has little time for walking outdoors, tread mill is the only option.
Swimming is another exercise, which is very good for body and soul. I hope this helps you.
don’t stock much food in the refrigerator, no ice-cream, no candy at home. Try to stock just healthy foods.
